Two New Dwellings

This project involved the demolition of the existing detached bungalow on a substantial plot.

Two unique and substantial two storey family homes were designed purposely for the plot, taking into account the surroundings and topography of the site.

The resultant dwellings are two storey to the front with substantial feature glazing yet only single storey to the rear, with the ground floor being cut into the natural land levels.  An innovative design was required to ensure the lack of natural light and ventilation to the rear (at ground floor level) was accommodated for.

Traditional detailing was incorporated along with a modern twist with the green oak large glazing expanse, timber canopies, stone corbelling, patent roof glazing, large bi-fold doors and corner window detail to the sun lounge, all providing character externally.  Internally vaulted ceilings, split levels and spacious layouts create these two properties their own identity.

Built by local craftsmen using locally sourced materials, these properties should still be magnificent family homes for generations to come.
